IDIRAD is a multicultural Berber band founded by singer-songwriter Idir Aït Dahmane. The singer was raised in a musical family in Kabylia. After arrival in Belgium, he took lessons at the Music Academie to improve his basic knowledge.

After various experiments as a guitarist in different groups, he starts to compose his own songs and let him be surrounded by musicians of different horizons.

It's almost natural to create this album "Zik" ("good old times") with the songs he composed till now.

On the album you can listen to berber songs with touareg, blues and gnawa influences.

Most of the songs are written in Kabylian by Idir, except some texts in French and other Berber languages. It's a way for Idirad to keep the berber feeling accessible for everybody.

The album is a coproduction of IDIRAD and music label MUSARCO, world music of today with the roots of yesterday.

A concert of IDIRAD is a musical journey from the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, over the Berber mountains, till deep into the Sahara-desert. It's a subtle mix of poetry, emotion and festive music.
